Krabi – the Historical Native land of Elephants

      In a Krabi a town it is possible to visit many times, and each of visits will be rewarded by new interesting sight. Local residents concern them with honour and respect thanks to what any monument does not remain without attention and gifts. Here and the sculpture «a Krabi – the historical native land of elephants» is added by fresh flower garlands and fruit.

      There is a monument with elephants in a Krabi a town on Vannaprueg road. And have erected it in memory to the historical events directly concerning occurrence of a province of a Krabi.

The Krabi, in the past, was a habitat of wild elephants. The governor of a province a Nakhon Si Thammarat – Chao Phraya Nakhon has sent the people to construct a shelter for elephants in subordinated southern area Pakasai (now the area is called – Amphoe Nuea Khlong) and to collect there elephants for export. Later on this place there was a settlement, becoming as a result a city with area surrounding it under the name of a Krabi and a Krabi Province.

 
From here with confidence it is possible to assert that a Krabi “the Historical Earth elephants”.

In 1958, the Krabi is presented “Plaiklaew”, an elephant from area Lam Thap Amphoe Khlong Thom (now – Amphoe Lam Thap) for Its Majesty of king Pumipona Aduljadeta (Bhumibol Adulyadej) as a favorable symbol of its board, and this elephant has officially been named:
“Phra Savet Adulyadej Pahon Bhumibol Nawanartbaramee Thutiyasavetkarikamutpannopas Bhoromkamalaswisutthawong Sappamongkollaksanakachenchart Siammaratsawasprasit Rattanakunchornnimitbunyathikarn Poraminbopitsansaklertfa”.

In this place, on the basis of this historical interrelation between a Krabi and elephants, in 140th anniversary year of a Krabi – 2012, from a province the monument with four characteristic elephants who have been established opposite to Board of the Province of a Krabi (Krabi Provincial Office) has been created.

Inhabitants of a province of a Krabi treat elephants with sheaves of fresh bananas and decorate their bright garlands from natural flowers.
