Fishing in Thailand on lake Cheo Lan in a Khao Sok

      Within the limits of article I will tell about one of our fishings in Thailand in national park a Khao Sok on lake Cheo Lan.       Park the Khao Sok occupies the space of 740 sq. km and is located round lake Cheo Lan in a province of Surattani. It is huge territory of impassable jungle and an area of dwelling of set of wild animals and birds. The lake Cheo Lan reaches depths in 150 metres, and a considerable quantity, a variety and kinds of fishes is found in its waters a Khao Sok. According to local residents of the park, separate copies reach more than 100 kg!

Certainly, in a Khao Sok carry tourists, but these places are limited by a small part of national park. Its basic territory remains untouched the person with channels, islets, creeks. Having bought 2 good spinnings, spare coils, to steam of tens every possible baits, have called our explorer and have appointed new date of fishing in Thailand.

      Have this time decided not to be exchanged, and to go at once with spending the night in floating small houses on lake Cheo Lan. In the morning at the appointed o’clock have arrived on a dam of Ratchaprapadam, poured a rain, was nobody. A call to a familiar Thai and in 10 minutes she with its cousin (our explorer, the fisherman-maniac) were already on a pier. «We have thought you will not arrive …, – she has told». But we mentally already were there «Ha. It not about us. Are ready to departure!»

Have loaded things, fishing tackles, pair of canisters of solar oil, it is a little meal, the Thai has taken a harpoon, a mask then lodge in a boat “long tail” and have gone to a way on lake Cheo Lan on fishing in Thailand. After an hour of driving, having passed all tourist routes, have driven in virgin creeks of national park Khao Sok. The rain has abated, has risen easy a smoke from evaporation over small islets of lake. That left jungle and has gone to its parked to boat coast, it was terribly interesting to it that there inside. Without tempting destiny and not to lose the transport, the Thai has given I tear up, having sailed on depth, removing all it on the phone.

      Having arrived into place, we have started to shower fishing tackles, periodically trying to change baits. And here the first blow and the Thai already drags the first big fish, bending almost half-and-half the spinning. Having brought to a boat, in haste, without having got a net, tries to lift her on a boat, but fish, having shown only the huge head, having blinked it, breaks a cord and leaves back home with its favourite bait. It is a pity … But fishing in Thailand only has begun. The upset Thai, gets a net from under a stern and puts it on a foreground.

Again explosion of a smooth surface of water, bite and breakage. Today fish scoffed at our explorer, properly without having seized a bait it has left in depths of lake Cheo Lan. After some minutes splash near to a boat, Cyril throws there a bait and fish instantly reacts, swallowing a bait. Is! Some minutes of struggle and fish in a boat.

      Soon I too have found “wobbler” and have caught on it some wood perches, enough the big sizes.

Day came to an end, and our boat has gone to fishing small houses on water far in a lake Cheo Lan jungle. Except us there was to steam of local residents which have made to us a tasty supper, have shown, where it is possible to have a rest and stay the night, and caught the haul have put in a box with ice. Separately it would be desirable to note their habitation. It is a floating scaffold at coast with tents from a bamboo. Unique conveniences inside it is a mattress and a grid from mosquitoes over it. But the supper and vacation spot, is everything that it was necessary for us this evening, besides departure has been for tomorrow planned for 5 mornings.

      For the morning, having met a dawn, having drunk on a cup of coffee and having refused rice with a hen we have left on lake open spaces. The Thai has turned a boat in the opposite side from our yesterday’s fishing in Khao Sok and has gone to one of lake Cheo Lan sources – to rivers Saeng and Khuan, obviously wishing to catch something like a trout. Khuan, by the way, so call the his sister!
Having swum up to small rivers, weather has introduced the corrective amendments. The torrential rain has begun, fish has left on the affairs and after unsuccessful attempts we have gone to a mouth of the rivers to catch wood perches deep into lakes.

After the spent 2 days on fishing in Thailand in national park Khao Sok on lake Cheo Lan I had an accurate belief that fortunately on mother Earth still there are such places where there can be wild elephants, tigers, leopards, and to be found in pure waters fine and strange fish.

Huge snakehead (Chado)

      Unusual fish from family a snakehead is found in fresh-water waters of Thailand. Reaches at length to 1 m, weighs to 10 kg, the dwelling aura is overgrown sites of lakes, shoal. Can easily breathe atmospheric air, having respiratory bodies. In a droughty season the snakehead buries in silt and waits for water inflow. At fish it is very developed fins with which help the snakehead easily overcomes distance between reservoirs overland. Wood perch (Pla Kasup)

      On the Thai sounds Pla Kasoop, reaches at length to 70 sm, and it is powerful 6,5 kg.

Wood perch gregarious, aggressive, predatory fish. Eats small fishes, large water insects. It is not similar to a usual perch, the body is covered by very large scales of serebristo-gold colour with distinctive feature – a black strip across a body. A tail of brightly red colour with dark strips at the terminations.

Siamese carp

      Reaches at length to 2 metres, and weight to 100 kg. This fish is the largest representative of the family. The body of the Siamese carp is covered by large scales of dark blue colour with bronze outflow, with a huge tail fin, the big head and a huge mouth. The carp is omnivorous and eats small cancers, seaweed and weeds. The Siamese carp with capricious character to catch its big good luck for the fisherman.

Amazonian arapayma

      One of the greatest fresh-water fishes, reaches in length of 3 metres and weight more than 200 kg! Arapayma, as well as the snakehead, can breathe atmospheric air, hunts on fish, small animals, and also birds. It come from the South America where in muddy waters of Amazon, poor oxygen and has developed ability to breathe air. Can wait the droughty period, having buried in bog silt.

Fish a knife (the spotty clown)

      Reaches at length 100 cм and it is powerful 6 kg. Distinctive feature of the spotty clown presence below on a body of the big dark stains from bottom to a tail fin. Fish a knife keeps the small and average rivers. She is the ground predatory fish eating Crustacea, insects and small fish. In June-October there is on spawning to the flooded wood reservoirs and lake Cheo Lan a place most suitable to it.

Fish rohu (the Indian carp)
      Reaches weight to 40 kg. Fish rohu comes from India, and has extended on all Asian region. It is very similar to our carp, the body is covered by large scales. Fish rohu eats seaweed, a plankton and lives in lake low layers.

 

Mahsir

      Reaches at length 90 Fish of family carp, enough large size, near relation Barbus see. The body is covered by very large scales of silvery colour with an is bluish-dark blue shade. Mahsir lives both in warm lakes, and in small rivers, prefers roughly current rivers and if there are no salmon fishes, can occupy their aura of dwelling. Most likely the Thai also tried to catch its beginning of the rivers of lake Cheo Lan. This fish is omnivorous, eats seaweed, larvae, Crustacea, hearts, small fishes. Baramundi (Pla Kapong)

       Reaches usually lengths of 50 sm and weight of 5 kg. Baramundi families a perch. A body of silvery colour, very powerful and aggressive predator. Eats small fish. Fish is glorified by the acrobatic abilities and is the best trophy for fishermen. It is delivered to Thailand more 20 years ago for commercial the haul.
